Mediators are carefully selected and trained to a high standard nationally. Our mediators are members of the ADR Institute of Canada, Inc. and the professional
Code of Practice that governs the way professional Mediators should work with Clients.
Costs & Time
Taking a case to trial can take months and involves considerable legal expense, in addition to indirect costs involved in having to spend time reading Court documents, consulting lawyers and attending Court.
Approximately two-thirds of disputes are referred to mediation, therefore the potential cost savings outweigh the costs of using the legal process to resolve disputes.
Mediations are time-limited with fixed hourly rates, meaning that costs are limited and most importantly transparent.
Mediation fees are based on:
- Initial meeting or discussion: FREE 30 minutes discussion to review your case without risk or cost.
- Preparation time: for our Mediators to review the case in anticipation of the Mediation process itself. Each hour is at a fixed rate of $350 so you know the costs before they are incurred.
- Mediation time: the amount of hours needed to arrive at an agreement. Each hour is at a fixed rate of $350 so you know the costs before they are incurred.
- Number of parties: if there is more than one claimant and/or defendant the length of the mediation session may need to be increased.
- Location: we charge a nominal rate of $0.50 per mile for travel costs for the Toronto region. If the mediation takes place outside Toronto then we will agree the travel costs with you.
- Weekend hours: if we work with you on weekends we will not charge a supplement as we know that in the interests of you, our important client, outside office hours may be more suitable for some cases.
We also offer a flexible 'time-cost-quality', fee structure where you can choose a fee that suits your needs. Whilst always providing a professional service we can adjust fees for example:
- if you require a shortened report with limitations of scope, then the fee can be discounted accordingly;
- if you require a faster service than the norm then we will try and accommodate the request but the fee will attract a surcharge over and above our standard rate;
In summary we believe our service fees are here to meet your needs.
